But for now a World of Despair

Their voices were the grumble of a mountain
As an avalanche fell off their tongues;
The screaming roar of a thousand voices
Betrayed by the rumble in their throats.
Their song was a volley of destruction
That cascaded debris down onto the witnesses
Covering their eyes and ears in horror;
Huddling together in terror at the noise.
The bellows from the mountain spoke deeply
To some sombre, withdrawn aspect of my soul
And through the hate the fearful threw at them,
I saw a future, perhaps distant, filled with hope
Where humans are humans and not foes.
