Young and in Love

They sneaked out at night
To give their parents a fright
Sinking out of sight
In a place beyond the light

Their romance not denied
But a teenage urge to hide
That never should be spied
Their tender, thoughtful sides

Without a hint of danger
Their interests could waver
Their passions ever greater
Imagining disfavour

Their love only a dream
Of living to the extreme
Like some well-devised scheme
To make their lives supreme

And when at last returned
To home comforts were spurned
A lesson never learned
Sweet innocence confirmed
