About

Welcome!

My name is Laura Marie Clark. I have a First Class Honours degree in History and I will soon begin a very successful Master’s.  After graduating in 2013, I spent 10 months working as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I am currently living in the UK and working as a housekeeper, as well as keeping myself busy with my writing.

I have been writing for many years, inspired in one English class as a young teen to write an elegy (as I recall, one that was laughed at by some of the boys). After a couple of unsuccessful writing blogs, I created this blog in January 2015 and have been updating it frequently ever since.

Thanks in part to this blog and the confidence it has given me, I have also had my debut collection of poetry, “City of the World”, published. This tells the story of my time in Vietnam. You can read more about it here and purchase it here. You may also find extracts from this book dotted around my blog.

I hope you enjoy my writing!

  1. Hey Laura
Just for fun, this holiday I’ve started doing some creative writing. I’ve been sharing my ideas on my own blog (https://settlingdustbook.wordpress.com/) and eventually I might finish and make it into my own little book (I won’t publish it). I don’t know whether I’ll finish it, but being the accomplished writer that you are I would appreciate it if you could read the first two or three very short chapters and tell me what you think. I’d love to become a writer when I’m older and your advice would be a huge help to make me improve.
    Thanks for your time,
    Bertie 🙂

  2. I think this is the second time I am visiting your blog.
History and English have been very close to me.
Since you are in this blogging world, you may have visited so many blogs, but there are certain bloggers who are good and serious writers, whose writings may be of some contribution in all your endeavors
I this very moment follow you.
I invite you to visit my blog, just a visit, you need not put a like or comment or follow.
If its of some contribution to you, I shall myself pat on my back.
    Good Going!

  4. YEAH, a fellow history buddy in a similar career position. You still have youth on your side do not give up. I am 30 and at times I wonder if I should have pursued my first love of History.
